36 hours per week, 1 FTE, Fulltime Permanent

Rathbone Training are looking to appoint several centre based Youth Engagement Outreach Workers across the North West & Midlands.  These roles are to attract young people to join Rathbone’s engagement and employability programmes within the community and the local learning centres.   Ensuring they are given the right level of IAG (Information advice and guidance) to make informed decisions about their future. Promote personal, educational, social development and engage them on a program aimed to improve their life chances and empower them to take the next steps.

You will be required to build long and lasting relationships with Key referral partners such as JCP/DWP, Princes Trust, Charities, local youth groups, career advice agencies, housing associations, other work based learning providers, colleges and other organisations. To support them to move the young people they work with off the NEET register and find those that are classed as Hidden NEET. Attend events that are aimed at NEET young people to promote Rathbone and the benefits of joining the organisation.

You will be expected to work closely with statutory and non-statutory organisations to support young people and help them to remove the barriers that are stopping them from engaging in education and training.

The successful candidate will be required to have the following qualifications, skills, experience and attributes;

  • Diploma/Degree or equivalent in Youth work, Coaching or Mentoring
  • English and Maths qualifications at a minimum of Level 2
  • Experience of working with a wide range of people with differing needs and aspirations
  • Experience of assessing the needs of young people and action planning
  • Experience of multi-agency working
  • Experience of delivering community based youth work (detached, outreach and community venues)
  • Experience of developing and delivering non regulated personal, social and employability learning to young people
  • Experience of delivering advice, guidance and support
  • Experience of developing new ideas with a positive outcome.
  • Experience of using IT.
  • Ability to engage successfully with a wide range of stakeholders in order to secure high levels of referrals and learner retention
  • Ability to engage people and motivate them to be aspirational,  set short and long term targets, work to the best of their ability, articulate any issues they may be experiencing and to progress.
  • Ability to have a accepting and non-authoritarian approach and have experience of working with young people in the community.
  • Strong experience in supporting young people on a one-to-one basis using intensive mentoring and coaching techniques within a solution led approach
  • Knowledge of the barriers that young people face in accessing employment and experience in addressing these effectively
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
