Tower Hamlets is a thriving, vibrant borough, and one of the most exciting places to work and live in London. With a growing population of over 300,000 people, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets strives to provide outstanding services for all residents of this iconic East End borough.
The corporate Strategy, Policy and Performance division share this goal and are currently recruiting for a dynamic and driven Joint Safeguarding Adults Strategy and Governance Manager. This is a joint post, working with the local authority and Clinical Commissioning Group to secure exceptional safeguarding practices for adults in the borough. The Safeguarding Adults Board has many committed partners, working together with a clear focus on preventing abuse and embedding 'Making Safeguarding Personal' in all its priorities. The successful candidate will play a vital business support role, working closely with strategic and operational teams to provide excellent back office support.
In this role, you'll be responsible for managing and supporting the development and progress of the Safeguarding Adults Board, to ensure the board meets its statutory obligations as set out in the 2014 Care Act. You'll also undertake an advisory role to the independent SAB Chair, CCG and council members, and will coordinate safeguarding adult reviews. This role carries significant responsibility, supporting and driving continuous improvements to adult safeguarding.
Whilst this role has a firm basis in strategy, it also offers the exciting opportunity for engagement work within the community. This is a key supportive role, working closely with the SAB chair to ensure smooth organisation and running of the SAB and sub groups. It therefore requires someone with the hands on social work experience to put the needs of the service user first. This role offers the unique chance to champion the service user - above all else, the successful candidate will be someone with a passion for adult services.
We're looking for someone with drive and ambition. You'll have the operational experience to know how to make things happen as well as being a strategic thinker with the ability to see the bigger picture, desired outcomes and the best way to meet them.
This is a role with genuine autonomy, so needs someone with the independence and assertiveness to take initiative. As you'll be working with external stakeholders and steering the work of the safeguarding board, the successful candidate will be a confident communicator with great people skills.
As one of the most culturally diverse and busy boroughs in the country, Tower Hamlets offers work that is varied and exciting, a place where no two days are the same.
Dedicated to helping employees to grow, Tower Hamlets offers continuous training on a case by case basis, meaning you'll get the support you need to reach your full potential.
This is a high-profile role offering the rare chance to make a real difference to safeguarding and adults strategy in Tower Hamlets.
Interviews will be held on 20 and 21 September 2017.
